In search of a new boat

Rainbow
Rainbow

We have been sailing in Nova Scotia for the past two years on an American Spirit 28 from Shearwater Yacht club.  Her name is Rainbow.  This spring we decide to move up in size to a bigger boat that we could do some serious cruising on.  So we sold Rainbow and started the hunt for a bigger boat.  RaeAnn hit the internet and we looked at many boats all over North America.  But the more we looked the more we like the Hunters class of boats.  After considering many things we decided that a Hunter 37 that was made in the late 1980’s would be a good boat for us and our needs.  We found a 1989 Hunter 37 legend in Bellville, Ont named Get-Met for sale with most of the items we were looking for.  High on RaeAnn’s list was hot water, center line after cabin (no climbing over each other at night), nice galley and main cabin. Plus a shower (inside the boat!!).  My needs were more geared towards sailing.  Must haves; Diesel engine, powered windless, radar, furler, good sails, shallow draft and some blue water capability.

So we  in early May we flow up to Ottawa, Ont and then drove down to Bellville, Ont to look at Get-Met.  After a quick tour and many questions we decided that she was for us.  So we now have a new boat in Ontario.

The plan is to sail her back down the Saint Lawrence to Halifax which is only 1044 nm’s give or take.  What could go wrong?
